AR 1

First IPCC Assessment Report (FAR) released in 1990 underlined the importance of climate change as a challenge with global consequences and requiring international cooperation. AR 2

The Second Assessment Report (SAR) (1995) provided important material for government to draw FORM in the run-up to adoption of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997.

AR 3

The Third Assessment Report (TAR) (2001) focused attention on the impacts of climate change and the need for adaptation.

AR 4

The Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) (2007) laid the ground work for a Post-Kyoto agreement focusing on limiting warming to 2°C.

AR 5

The Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) was finalized between 2013 and 2014. It provided the scientific input into the Paris Agreement.

AR 6

According to AR6, the probable temperature rise is in the middle of the scenario spectrum that reaches from 1.5 °C to 5 °C, at about 3 °C at the end of the century. It is likely that 1.5 °C will be reached before 2040.
