In a series of UN reports, thousands of scientists and government experts agreed that limiting the global temperature increase to no more than 1.5 °C would help avoid the worst climate impacts and preserve a liveable climate. However, based on current national climate plans, global warming is projected to reach 3.2 °C by the end of the century
Recent climate changes are widespread, quick, and intensifying, and unprecedented for thousands of years. Without immediate, rapid, and large-scale reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, the goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C will be unattainable. Climate change is already affecting all regions of the world in a variety of ways, and changes will increase with further warming.
